AVS/Express Multipipe Edition Adds Immersive Data Visualization for PC Users

PC software slashes cost of theatre-scale 3D visualization

Waltham, Mass. – November 13, 2003) – Advanced Visual Systems (AVS) has released a new edition of its popular AVS/Express data visualization system, which since 1996, has aided users in science, engineering, medicine, telecommunications and environmental research gain valuable insight from all types of complex data.

AVS/Express Multipipe Edition (MPE) for the PC provides users with the ability to utilize new or existing AVS/Express applications on high performance PC’s and graphics clusters and experience their work in immersive environments such as CAVE™ systems, Holobenches or in large-screen environments, such as the SGI RealityCenter™. Complete information on the new release can be found at http://www.avs.com/express.

This latest release of AVS/Express MPE for PC is the second platform supported by AVS’ Multipipe initiative, which also currently offers support for SGI-ONYX™. All of the AVS/Express MPE editions have been developed in cooperation with the University of Manchester Visualization Center and Kubota Graphics Technology.

AVS/Express, upon which the MPE editions are based, allows rapid, object-oriented development of graphically rich and highly interactive data visualization applications. MPE expands the desktop capabilities into the realm of full 3D stereo immersion in large visualization theatres and presentation facilities. With the use of AVS/Express MPE, scientific and research projects attain the ability to quickly comprehend 3D spatial relationships within their data that is not possible from the desktop display technologies alone.

Sold as a comprehensive development system, AVS/Express MPE allows rapid construction of immersive applications without requiring a detailed understanding of the low-level multi-channel graphics programming. New features of AVS/Express MPE include:
